My Adventures Of Motherhood In Ghana

My motherhood journey started in my early 20's back home in Ghana while I was still a student. So for me, it was an adventure because it taught and took me to many different stages in my life. I learnt a lot about myself as woman, learnt how to be a good mother to my baby and took me the stages of both physical and emotional self discovery. As a woman, I learnt a lot about my strengths and weakness during this amazing quest of motherhood. Especially in Ghana where woman play an important role in the affairs of raising the children in the family. On my quest of learning to be a good mother, I learnt the real meaning of being a mother and the real sacrifices that comes with motherhood. My Secrets In Motherhood

I smile and laugh a lot with my children even when am sad. I try to always keep a happy face even when the situation looks bad because this helps me stay positive and not panic. This moments are also when I pour out my emotions and frustrations by crying. I keep everything simple with my personality. My everyday choices of being a woman and a busy mother, are made minimal so I am not so overwhelmed with the stresses that comes with motherhood. I admit am not perfect. When I make mistakes as a woman and a mother, I keep this thought in mind so as not to blame myself so much which might not be emotionally healthy. I always trust my mothering instincts. I never doubt my maternal instincts and I always search for them for my daily routines. I don...

You will find a lot of mothers almost everywhere you turn or go in Ghana busily going about doing their businesses. And it is very common to see them doing their businesses with their babies and children either being carried on their mother's backs or walking in tow with them despite the extreme weather conditions in Ghana. In Ghana, a lot of mothers are also the bread winners for their families, thus the increase in working mothers who have no choice but to work with their children ( mostly children under the school age). This is a very sensitive situation mainly because of the poor family support system we have in Ghana. Mothers suffer a lot due to this factor, as there no proper systems in place to motivate and encourage them. Most mothers have no kind of family support, which leaves them with all the responsibilities of raising their childre...
